In a bid to help to reduce the number of lives lost to skin cancer in the UK we’ve launched our petition ‘Tan Ban UK’ to challenge the government to follow in the footsteps of our motherland, Australia, where sunbeds are banned.

With lives being lost every day to this awful disease, something needs to be done and since sunbeds have direct links to skin cancer we believe that raising awareness about the dangers of them is a good place to start.

After joining us on the Dying for a Tan tour, Terri Dwyer, is backing us again and she’s the first person to sign our petition to ban sunbeds in the UK.

It’s thought that the use of sunbeds can increase a person’s risk of skin cancer by 20%, with 86% of skin cancer cases thought to be avoidable.

What’s more is that those who use sunbeds before the age of 35 have an incredibly high risk of skin cancer, a scary 87% risk - it’s time to face the facts.

Our brand ambassador, Terri Dwyer, who battled skin cancer in 2014, said: “If I could go back and tell my younger self to avoid the sunbeds I would do. I had a sunbed at home for a year when I was 18 and I think that the use of this is largely to blame for the aggressive melanoma that I battled.

“It’s a scary thought that stupid decisions you make as a young person can affect you in the future, when I was naively tanning I never thought that one day I’d be fighting skin cancer and worrying about leaving my children motherless.”

We want to lead the way in educating and protecting people from the dangers of sunbeds. Why not join us and sign our petition to help to decrease the skin cancer rates in the UK bit.ly/2uSICok
